Gakenke District is one of the five districts that make up the Northern Province of Rwanda.
The District covers a total surface area of 704.06 square kilometers and is administratively composed of 19 sectors, 97 cells, and 617 villages. It has a population of 365,292 inhabitants, with a population density of 520 people per square kilometer.
The population includes 192,692 women (52.8%) and 172,600 men (47.2%), reflecting a slightly higher proportion of women within the District.
