NISR Conducted the Assessment of the District's Imihigo Performance
On 10th July, 2026, the Mayor of Gakenke District, Vestine Mukandayisenga, welcomed a team from the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), which has commenced the inspection of the implementation of the District's 2025–2026 Imihigo (Performance Contracts).
During the opening session, the Mayor presented an overview of the District's performance, highlighting that Gakenke District has so far achieved an overall Imihigo implementation rate of 92.6%. She noted that performance under the Economic Transformation pillar stands at 96.4%, while the Social Transformation pillar has reached 93.9%.
Performance under the Transformational Governance pillar currently stands at 85.2%. The Mayor also highlighted a few performance indicators that have not yet attained the 100% target, including the provision of artificial insemination services, which has reached 72.2%, and the construction of houses for survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, which stands at 85%.
She explained the factors that affected timely implementation and outlined the corrective measures that have been put in place to accelerate completion of the remaining activities.
The NISR inspection team explained that the exercise will include a review of supporting documentation for the District's Imihigo performance reports, consultations with the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) Committee, the District Council Bureau, and the District Executive Committee. The team will also conduct field verification visits to selected Imihigo projects across sectors, cells, and villages to assess implementation progress and validate the reported results.
