In order to abide with its performance contract, the district of Gakenke constructed 160 houses for genocide survivors, and 432 houses for the vulnerable people. The district also prepared women projects worth 41,702,085 Frw and recovered debts for women funds amounting to 7.270.848 Frw out of 17,311,543Frw which represents 42% of all the debts.

The population of Kamubuga has been able to access electricity, thanks to their invention that generates electricity by using discarded old battery cells and now more than 1000 households are able to light up their houses. Only three cells can light a house for three months and it costs only 4000Frw for a house that has three rooms.

The district has also been able to make organic manure using Tithonia leaves, chicken droppings and ash that is reach in potassium and phosphorus.

In the Cup of Excellence Award, Gakenke coffee got the third position: Minazi Coffee Factory got the 4th position, Muyongwe Coffee Factory was the 5th, DUKUNDEKAWA Cooperative was the 14th. Coffee created an estimated income of 85.000Frw for each household that grows coffee.
